The theme of the 2009 conference is
"Joining languages, cultures and visions". It seeks to give a new breath to this type of conference by inviting new disciplines, especially industrial design, to join the traditionally architectural discourse. Moreover, the conference will be bilingual: English and French we aim to create a vivid dialogue between different cultural approaches, computational methods and philosophical positions.
Starting from digital approaches to architectural design and sustainability, the conference subjects will include computer-aided industrial design, and heritage conservation, thus embracing a great variety of contemporary issues and disciplines.
Recently declared a UNESCO City of Design, Montreal will be proud to offer its hospitality to the CAAD Futures09 conference, and will surely create an inspiring atmosphere for discussion and exchange of ideas.
Le thème de la conférence de 2009 est "Joindre langages, cultures et visions". Il tente de donner un nouveau souffle à ce type de conférences internationales en invitant de nouvelles disciplines, et spécialement le design industriel, à se joindre au discours architectural. De plus, la conférence sera bilingue : en anglais et en franais, ainsi nous visons à susciter un dialogue entre différentes approches culturelles, méthodes numériques et positions philosophiques.
La conférence a pour objectif d'embrasser un éventail de problématiques contemporaines et de disciplines variées : des approches numériques pour le design architectural et l'architecture durable; le design industriel assisté par ordinateur et la conservation du patrimoine.
Récemment déclarée Ville de design de UNESCO, Montréal sera ravie d'accueillir les conférenciers de CAAD Futures 2009 et créera sans doute une atmosphère inspirante pour discussions et échange d'idées.
